Four new scholarships were added to the College and Career Website!


Below you will find the 4 scholarships that were just added to the College and Career Website! You will find the location of the scholarships in red.

Scholarships that are under the February tab of the College and Career Website:

East Texas Communities Foundation Scholarships                                 
Due 2/3/20
Amount: Varies

East Texas Communities Foundation is now accepting applications for 70 scholarships which will be awarded for the 2020-2021 academic year. Most are due February 3, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. Some are due March 2, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. Deadlines are clearly noted on each application.

Use the simple matching tools below to help determine which scholarships you are most likely eligible for and to access the applications. ALL applicants should use the General Matching Tool. Students majoring in visual arts, art history, music, music education, theater, or dance should also use the Arts Matching Tool. Only students currently attending or accepted to attend a medical school in Texas are eligible for the Medical School Scholarship.


The Dream.US Scholarship

Amount: The National Scholarship Award will cover your tuition and fees up to a maximum of $14,500 for an associate degree and $29,000 for a bachelor’s degree, at one of our Partner Colleges. Please note, some Scholars may be eligible for an additional stipend of up to $4,000 (or $1,000 per year) for books, supplies, and transportation. The award is renewable each year – you simply have to meet the continuing eligibility criteria.

This scholarship is open to all undocumented students who came to the United States before November 1st, 2014. We think of our National Scholarship as the "Pell Grant" for highly motivated DREAMers with significant, unmet financial need. While we consider your GPS and test scores, we place great emphasis on your demonstrated commitment to community service and your ability to overcome the barriers and challenges that DREAMers face each and every day.

Legacy AG Credit, ACA 2020 SCHOLARSHIP                                        
Due 3/31/20
Amount: 1 $5,000 Scholarship and 6 $2,500 Scholarships

To qualify an applicant must:
·        Be a high school senior scheduled to graduate in spring 2020
·        Reside in Legacy AG Credit's 10-county territory (Franklin, Gregg, Harrison, Hopkins, Kaufman, Marion, Rains, Upsur, Van Zandt, Wood)
·        Have a GPA of 2.5 or greater and submit high school transcript. 
·        Submit a 2020 application - incomplete applications will not be considered.
·        Submit resume
·        Submit essay (see application for essay topic)
·        Complete applications must be submitted by March 31st
    *NOTE: There is no degree requirement: however, preference will be given to applicants pursuing agricultural degrees. Children and grandchildren of Legacy Ag Credit employees and directors are not eligible.

I wanted to let you know that there are a lot of great scholarship opportunities from both local, state, and national scholarship programs. Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship                                                                       Due 1/17/20
Amount: $10,000

Applicants to the Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship Program must be:
  • Be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  • Be high school seniors who are currently enrolled in or who have completed an advanced placement computer science course or who have taken an advanced placement computer science test.
  • Be planning to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year majoring in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering or other computer related field of study.
  • Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).
Immediate family members of Amazon employees or its subsidiaries are not eligible to apply.

Right to Life of East Texas Scholarship                                                                    Due 1/24/20
Amount: $1,000

Right to Life of East Texas is offering four $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who plan to further their career plans with college, trade school, military or other endeavors. Applications must be postmarked by January 24, 2020. The scholarships will be awarded to individuals, not to institutions, based on the quality of the essay submitted in accordance with the theme described below.

Union Plus Scholarship                                                                                               Due 1/31/20
Amount: $500-$4,000

Current and retired members of participating unions, their spouses and their dependent children (as defined by IRS regulations). At least one year of continuous union membership by the applicant, applicant's spouse or parent (if applicant is a dependent). The one year membership minimum must be satisfied by May 31 of the scholarship year. Applicants are evaluated according to academic ability, social awareness, financial need and appreciation of labor. A GPA of 3.0 or higher is recommended. The required essays can account for up to half your total score. Scholarship applicants are judged by a committee of impartial post-secondary educators 

Dixie Youth Softball Scholarship                                                                                 Due 2/1/20
Amount: $2,000

Applicant must be a senior in high school and must have participated in a DIXIE SOFTBALL program for at least two (2) seasons. Applicant’s ability as an athlete will NOT be a factor in awarding scholarships. Financial need as well as scholastic ability will be factors in determining the award recipients.

Dixie Youth Baseball Scholarship                                                                                Due 2/1/20
Amount: $2,000

Applicant must be a senior in high school and must have participated in a DIXIE YOUTH BASEBALL program when twelve years old or younger. Applicant’s ability as an athlete will not be a factor in awarding scholarships.

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Area Go Texan Scholarship                                                                                                 Due 2/3/20 at 7:59 PM
Amount: $20,000

Requirements
·        Be a U.S. Citizen and Texas resident
·        Graduating high school senior from eligible school (Gregg County)
·        Score at least a 950 on SAT or 19 on ACT
·        Rank in the top third (1/3) of the graduating class.
·        Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid - available October 2019
·        Plan to attend an accredited, not-for-profit university in the state of Texas.

Boardwalk Pipeline Partners, LP Scholarship Program                                                                                                                        Due 2/13/20
Amount: $1,000

Eligibility Requirements:
·        Be a high school senior attending one of the designated high schools in which Boardwalk's pipeline system crosses the school's property
·        Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
·        Plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two or four year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year.
·        Cannot be a child of an employee

Texas Extension Education Association (TEEA) 4-H Scholarship                         Due 2/15/20
Amount: $1,000

This scholarship is for Texas high school seniors. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants currently must be active senior 4-H members in good standing with a county 4-H program for the last four years. Applicants must demonstrate leadership and personal development through 4-H, and must not have passed their 19th birthday before January 1 of the current year. Applicants must plan to attend an accredited institution of higher learning: university, community college, trade or technical school in fall the following judging.

Dallas Scottish Rite Scholarship 2020                                                                        Due 2/28/20
Amount: $1,000

For a student to be eligible for this scholarship, a completed application form along with all supporting documents must be returned to our office no later than February 28, 2020. The application and supporting documentation must be delivered to us by regular mail or hand delivered to our office. Do not email your application or supporting documentsEmailed applications and supporting documentation will not be accepted.  Our office hours are Monday - Friday 7:30am-4:30pm. Candidates who are approved for a scholarship will be contacted by email/mail no later than April 6, 2020.

A completed application packet includes the following:
·        Completed Application.
·        All Transcripts.
·        Copy of SAT or ACT scores, if taken.
·        Two or more personal reference letters.
·        Two or more academic reference letters.

2020 Austin Bank Scholarship                                                                                    Due 2/28/20
Amount: $500 - $2,500

To apply for the scholarship, the student must meet the following criteria to be eligible:
• High school senior
• 2.5 GPA or greater
• Complete the application
• Acquire 3-character reference letters (do not place in separate envelopes)
     o 1 from a current or past teacher
     o 2 from the community (neighbor, pastor, civic leader, organization leader, employer, etc.)
• Provide essay, no more than two typed pages, single or double spaced. The essay should discuss their educational plans
and why they feel they need or should be awarded this scholarship.
• Provide official high school transcript
• Meet the submission deadline of February 28, 2020
     o All applications must be postmarked or hand-delivered to our Whitehouse office by this date.
     o Applications received with insufficient postage will be returned to sender.

Who is Eligible?
Women, aged 16-19 on 1st April each year, studying at a secondary school. college or university in a Zonta district/region, or who are studying elsewhere but are citizens of a Zonta country, who demonstrate evidence of the following, are eligible to apply. 
·        Active commitment to volunteerism.
·        Experience in local government, student government, or workplace leadership (paid or unpaid).
·        Volunteer leadership achievements. 
·        Knowledge of Zonta International and its programs.
·        Support for Zonta International's mission of empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy.

The Chairman Tommy Taylor Memorial Scholarship                                                                                                                     Due 3/1/20
Amount: $2,500

Criteria:
   1)  Must be majoring in an energy related field of study (declared major).
   2)  Must be enrolled as a full time (at least 12 hours) college student for the following Fall semester.
   3)  Must demonstrate leadership abilities and involvement in student and community organizations.
   4)  Must apply using the link below no later than March 1, 2020. 

Texas Department of Transportation Conditional Grant Program                                                                                                                          Due 3/1/20
Amount: $6,000

This grant provides financial assistance to eligible economically disadvantaged students who are residents of Texas and intend to seek a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. Graduating high school seniors must have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA, or a 900 SAT score, or a 21 ACT score. Students who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate program must have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA. All applicants must enroll full-time (12 hours/semester). Once accepted into the program, students must maintain full-time enrollment, maintain a 2.5 GPA, graduate with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, and agree to work for the Texas Department of Transportation for at least two years immediately following the date of their receipt of a bachelor's degree.

Amount: $1,000 and $1,500 award amounts

under the Youth Opportunities page. This includes deadlines, individual scholarship

All students applying for the above scholarship must be a member of a Texas Farm
Bureau family, with membership remaining current during the duration of the

Marine Corps Scholarship Program                                                                                                                          Due 3/2/20
Amount: $1,500, $2,500, $5,000, $7,500, or $10,000

APPLICANTS MUST BE THE CHILD OF ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
·        Active duty, reserve, or veteran U.S. Marine*
·        A Marine killed while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps
·        Active duty, reserve, or veteran U.S. Navy Corpsman who is/was attached to a U.S. Marine Corps unit or who was killed while serving with a U.S. Marine Corps unit*
·        A U.S. Navy Chaplain or Religious Programs Specialist who is/was attached to a U.S. Marine Corps unit or who was killed while serving with a U.S. Marine Corps unit*
*Veterans must have received an honorable discharge. A discharge status of other, general, under honorable conditions, dishonorable, etc. are not eligible for an award.
Additionally, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
·        GPA of at least 2.00 (on a 4.00 scale)
·        Family adjusted gross income for the 2019 tax year that does not exceed $103,000. Non-taxable allowances are not included in the adjusted gross income.
·        Attending or planning to attend a college or career training school listed on the National Center for Education Statistic’s College Navigator(opens external link in new window) website in the 2020-21 academic year.
*Applicants and awarded scholars attending a Federal Service Academy or a school not listed on College Navigator are not eligible for an award.
*Applicants who have an undergraduate degree, are pursuing a second bachelor’s degree, or are attending graduate school of any kind are NOT eligible.
*Applicants who have served, or are serving, in the U.S. military are required to provide a Statement of Service or DD214 showing honorable character of service.

Longview-Gregg County Retired Teachers Association Scholarship                                                                                                                     Due 3/6/20
Amount: $1,000

1. Fill in the application completely. If you need more space, continue on the back of the page.
2. Attach an official copy of your high school transcript, include your state test scores and ACT or SAR score. Double check with your high school counslor to verify if ACT or SAT scores are included on your transcript. If the scores are not included, you will need to attach the scores separately. 
3. Attach three letters of recommendation. The letter muct include how the person knows you and his or her contact information.
4. Attach an essay (one page or less) about why you wish to attend college.

Ramsey Realty Group Scholarship                                                                                                         Due 3/6/20

It is the desire of Ramsey Realty Group to help students wanting to pursue higher education. We are seeking to help those who typically do not otherwise qualify for many grants academic scholarships if any. We are looking to serve those that have a harder time obtaining scholarships but have the passion and desire to succeed. The applicant's high school GPA is only one factor considered.

LOLA FAYE WILSON SCHOLARSHIP                                                                                                          Due 3/20/20
Amount: $500

This scholarship is given by the Kappa Mu (Gregg County) chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, an organization of women educators. The original grant was given in memory of Lola Faye Wilson, a member of this organization who is now deceased. This ONE-TIME award in the amount of $500 is given to a senior high school girl who wishes to become a school teacher. The candidate may major in any field of education that will result in Educator Certification.

LMRC Auxiliary Scholarship                                                                                                                     Due 4/5/20
Amount: $1,000

The Longview Regional Medical Center Scholarship Fund was established for the purpose of providing financial assistance to eligible high school students who (1) are pursuing a career in a medically related field of study and (2) can demonstrate a need for financial assistance.
ALL APPLICANTS MUST: 
*Complete and submit application, including
1. High School transcript attesting a 3.0 GPA
2. Copy of ACT or SAT Scores
3. Personal biography
4. Three personal references returned in separate envelopes by person writing the references. 
    - two school related and one community related.
    - include address and phone numbers
    - no family members
5. Enroll in a minimum of 12 hours per semester
6. Submit application postmarked on or before due date of April 5, 2020

Requirements:
1. Must be enrolled in one of the Greater Longview area high schools
2. Graduating Senior
3. Accepted to a College, University, Secondary School, or Trade School
Please include proof of acceptance if available at time of mailing.
The Association will issue a check after proof of acceptance to a college, university,
secondary school, or trade school is received. GLSA will make checks payable to the
parent only, not the student.
